Vampire Academy – Richelle Mead

I read Vampire Academy near the beginning over the summer, but I never got around to blogging it. I loved this book, I really, really liked it. I read the first 4 books within the course of the week. I give it… 3.5/5.

This book is a about Rose and Lissa, they’re best friends and they go to a vampire school where there are both dhampirs and vampires, dhampirs are half-vampire, half-human, and they’re trained to eventually become a guardian for full vampires. This book in particular focuses on Lissa and her ability to heal things, and basically there is someone that just wants to abuse her power.

This book was really good, it reminded me of House of Night, but better. I only read the first 3 of House of Night, and I have to say it was pretty bad….

I like it because it moves really fast, I mean a lot happens in this one book, and it’s really visual. I can feel myself in the book.. sounds weird but read the book you’ll see.. It has a good level of action and romance, and I love Rose’s snarky attitude and her sarcasm. If a movie version came out, I could totally see Eliza Dushku for the part! Yes?? If she were like.. 5 years younger hahaha. I really hope they don’t make a really bad movie interpretation because the book is just soo good..

Anyway… I love the Rose/Dimitri thing they got going, except I don’t imagine Dimitri with a Russian accent… it’s just.. not very sexy. hhahahaa.

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.
